He was born, raised and played his high school ball in Antigo, Wisconsin.
He continued playing college basketball at Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota where he graduated in with a degree in physical education. Coach Alfonso is also certified as a Specialist in Sports Conditioning. He has also been involved with many basketball camps throughout the Upper Midwest.
