These types of errors can be difficult to isolate, especially given the architectural design limitations of the Enterprise systems. This document describes troubleshooting and diagnostic information for the Sun Enterprise servers. Describes errors or conditions that may be encountered on an Enterprise Exx00 server and provides methods to troubleshoot them.
Provides short removal and installation instructions for boards. Provides procedures for unpacking and installing the Sun Enterprise Expansion Cabinet. It also includes procedures to remove and replace the field-replaceable subassemblies in the expansion cabinet. This manual does not cover installation procedures for storage devices. Contains hole assignments for Sun products that can be mounted in system or expansion cabinet racks.
Provides an overview of the software and hardware documentation. Provides instructions on how to install a front screen door on an Enterprise inch expansion cabinet. Provides the latest software and hardware information for the server products.
Remove the side vents. Push each side vent backwards until it stops. Then lift the vent off the Enterprise system and set it aside.
Lift up the front of the top cover and slide it backwards approximately millimeters. Remove the top cover and set it aside.

Insert a screwdriver in the notch at the top center of the media tray to pull out the tray and separate it from the rear slip connectors Figure E See Chapters for information on replacing the boards and Chapter 7, Power Supplies , for information on replacing power supplies. Tighten the bottom three captive screws and secure the media tray to the enclosure Figure E Replace the side vents.
Place each vent alongside the main chassis and push the vent forward until it stops. See Chapter 12, Preparing for Service , for information on replacing this assembly. Loosen the cable restrainer and disconnect the power cable from the fan tray assembly. Slowly remove the fan tray assembly from the enclosure. The fan tray assembly will not seat fully unless the lever is in this starting position.
Use the extraction lever to seat the fan tray assembly. Tighten the two captive screws to secure the fan tray in place. Connect the power cord and tighten the cable restrainer. Power on the Enterprise system. Remove the system key. Grasp the bottom corners of both sides of the top bezel and pull it toward you. Tilt the top bezel upward to a 45 o angle and remove the bezel. Set the bezel aside Figure E Figure E Removing the Top Bezel Loosen the two captive screws securing the key switch assembly to the enclosure.
Tighten the two captive screws securing the key switch assembly to the enclosure. Lower the top bezel. The top bezel should snap into place. Replace the system key. Centerplane Removing the Centerplane Completely power off the Enterprise system. Remove the top bezel.
Remove the top cover. Locate the four plugs in each corner of the enclosure. Lift each plug by pushing down in the dotted area. This action causes the plug to pop up. Remove each plug. Remove all the boards and power supplies. Loosen the bottom three captive screws securing the media tray to the enclosure. Turn over the enclosure and remove the feet on the bottom. Locate the four feet in each corner of the enclosure. Unscrew and remove each foot. Turn the enclosure front side down onto a surface.
